Case Study Collection

This is a collection of Softlandia's applied AI case studies

SaaS

Customer

Product: analytics and dashboards with 50+ integrated data sources for retail, restaurants, and wholesale

Notable customers: Ralph Lauren, Pizza Hut, Diageo, The Body Shop

Problem

  • Zoined wanted to enable its customers to chat with their data to get new insights with real-time visual analytics.

  • AI architecture was an unfamiliar territory.

  • In-house tech team was stretched thin, dealing with technical debt, product development, and issues coming from customer support.

Solution

  • Softlandia audited Zoined’s first AI data analyst bot implementation; and created a report with suggestions for going forward: AI architecture, data access control/security, UX, evaluation, and optimization.

  • Softlandia provided an Applied AI team to develop the data analyst bot into a proper agentic AI engine based on the results of the initial audit.

Fun facts

  • Before we started the project, Zoined CEO Sasa Moilanen referenced this video as a ballpark example about what could be built.

  • Sasa is building in public and posting regular video updates on his LinkedIn profile.

Customer

Product: HappySignals is an IT Experience Management (ITXM) Platform that enables enterprise IT departments to measure, analyze, and improve end-user experiences across all IT touchpoints, make data-driven decisions, and create more value for their business users.

The platform quantifies employee happiness and productivity, provides continuous real-time feedback, and offers actionable insights to drive improvements in IT service delivery.

Problem

  • Leadership wants HappySignals to be the best AI-native SaaS solution in the ITXM space.

  • In-house tech needed more AI expertise and resources.

  • Their first simple AI feature was built in-house, but they are unsure how to move forward with more complex AI features.

Solution:

  • Softlandia provided insights into their current approach.

  • Conducted a workshop with the CEO, CTO, and technical team to review dashboard data and identify pain points for the next AI feature.

  • Suggested an approach for additional AI features in the next release.

  • Recommended external AI tools to optimize the solution.

  • Advised on AI architecture.

  • Helped management plan a long-term AI-native roadmap.

Customer

Product: Product: Governance suite, including contract management, board portal, legal entity management and virtual data room, enabling businesses to streamline compliance, due diligence, and M&A while enhancing resilience, transparency, and company value.

Notable Customers: Notable customers: JCDecaux, Relex

Problem:

  • Customers started asking for AI-enabled features in 2023 because competing legal tech companies promoted GenAI as an efficient tool and quickly introduced some features that were helpful for end users.

  • ContractZen customers manually entered metadata for all imported contracts, a process that was time-consuming and inefficient.

Solution:

  • Softlandia built and implemented a scalable AI engine that automatically extracts metadata, delivering 50% time savings without hallucination issues.

  • Data Privacy: Direct integration with ContractZen’s Azure environment ensured compliance with GDPR and international data protection standards.

  • Softlandia delivered a fully functional solution including an API within 8 weeks of kickoff.

  • By leveraging Softlandia’s expertise, ContractZen was able to maintain focus on its core product development while launching a cutting-edge AI feature faster than anticipated.

Customer

Product: Employee mental coaching service (matchmaking platform)

Notable Customers: Large multinational insurance companies, large engineering service companies (5,000+ employees)

Problem: Kuullas wanted to build a matchmaking solution but lacked a tech team with applied AI expertise.

Solution: Softlandia converted their existing solution from an unmaintainable system to an AI-powered recommendation engine.

Customer

Product: Bringing Finland's renowned education system to early education and school operators worldwide.

Problem: The customer needed guidance in selecting and developing a new AI-native learning software platform that supports easy curriculum translation.

Solution:

  • Softlandia conducted a pre-study to model the initial concept of the new platform.

  • Evaluated pre-selected existing platforms to determine their suitability for HEI Schools' needs.

  • Created a comprehensive report to help stakeholders decide on the renewal project.

Imaging

Customer

Product: High-end test systems for mobile phone touchscreens, AR, and VR glasses.

Notable Customers: Samsung, Google, Qualcomm, AMD, Intel, Asus, Atmel, Volvo.

Problem: Touchscreen phones and AR/VR devices have highly sensitive sensors that require testing with optical and other sensor-based methods, as well as high-accuracy robotics. A vast amount of data must be collected, and complex algorithms need to be developed to execute test cases and present results in a meaningful way. The solutions must be highly reliable, with repeatable measurements.

Solution: Softlandia has supported OptoFidelity and its customers over the years in various areas, including

  • Developing high-accuracy measurement solutions and methods, including camera, audio, and sensor-based measurements.

  • Full-stack implementation of a cloud-based data collection solution for global measurement data handling.

  • Building test algorithms and image processing methods to reliably detect optical phenomena.

  • Full-stack data pipeline, all the way from low-level device drivers to browser-based measurement result inspection tools.

Customer:

  • FAANG Company

Product: Camera system and camera sensor image quality evaluation services, camera system development, imaging in general

Problem: The customer needed an easy-to-use test system software solution that is used to validate the quality of imaging devices. This solution needed to be built from scratch.

Solution:

  • Softlandia delivered an end-to-end software solution for the imaging device quality evaluation

  • Software architecture design for the test system software framework

  • Backend (test execution and management engine, plugin architecture)

  • Frontend (low-code web-based UI, accessible even to less experienced developers)

  • Imaging algorithm implementations

  • Hardware integration support for incorporating test instruments into the system

  • A separate video analyzer tool that outperforms the customer’s previous video analysis tool

  • Python training and guidance for the customer team

Manufacturing / Machinery

Customer

Product: Forestry vehicles and machinery for log harvesting and forwarding

Notable Customers: Customers in 40 countries across all continents, including Europe, the Americas, Australia, Africa, China, and Southeast Asia.

Problem: Complex data analysis from factory MES systems—including IoT and ticket data—is challenging. Gaining deeper insights into the data could improve factory quality, output, and even overall facility throughput.

Solution

  • Softlandia has been assisting Ponsse with complex data analytics.

  • The Softlandia team has worked closely with the quality organization to develop novel data analytics solutions, integrating GenAI with traditional data analytics.

Spogen.ai—The first spinout company from Softlandia Venture Studio

Softlandia's Role:

  • Identified an opportunity to transform PDF manuals into interactive AI assistants, enabling users to chat with user and service manuals using voice—similar to Siri.

  • Recognized that AI-powered manuals would become a crowded market and decided to focus on a niche requiring specialized expertise.

  • Determined that mobile machinery demands domain-specific knowledge. Given Softlandia’s extensive experience in industrial environments, the team identified key requirements—such as the need for offline functionality in heavy and mobile machinery

Outcome:

  • Softlandia decided to spin out a new startup focused on this niche

  • Assembled a team of four co-founders and secured an investor, who also became the chairperson of the board

  • Softlandia’s tech team has been advising on infrastructure and AI-driven audio features.
